Re: Experiencing the greatest age of TV

TV now reminds me of how movies were in the early-90's - cutting-edge stuff funneling the zeitgeist right into my living room.

I honestly find myself spending more on TV DVD/Blu-ray sets than I do...

Re: Golden globes

I honestly believe that was due to Avatar/Cameron winning, and not him losing, and I'd bet money that had The Hurt Locker been announced, Reitman's facial expression would have been much better.

Re: AVATAR--I have the sneaking suspicion....

Oh man, I could tell it was a Pocahontas rip-off from the trailer.

Re: Favorite Pixar Film

Asking someone their favorite Pixar movie is like trotting a guy into Victoria's Secret shoot and asking him to pick out the sexiest woman.

Most of Pixar's library is exceptional, and I personally...

Re: Favorite Pixar Film

While this is true, which Pixar flick won the Golden Globe for Best Movie, is currently rated #2 overall at Rotten Tomatoes, and was rated the *perfect* movie of all time by a cutting-edge software...

Re: Favorite Pixar Film

I don't know if I'd class it as "bad", but Cars is the only Pixar movie to go away from their tried-and-true formula. Pixar gives us a peek into a "secret part of the world", be it toys, rats,...

Re: Favorite Pixar Film

Toy Story 2 is about as perfect a movie as you could ever hope to make.

Re: The One Film (Good Or Bad) That Defined the 00s

The Dark Knight, which is both the nadir and zenith of the funny book movie binge that dominated the 2000's.

Re: Epic 70-minute rail against Episode I...

Me too, and they continually gang-up on the bad guys throughout the trilogy - the more the merrier when it comes to offing a villain. It was like Lucas was going for a Rodney King-like experience...

Re: Epic 70-minute rail against Episode I...

No, Sith is still a steaming pile of crap, it's just that anything would look good next to Phantom Menace and Clones. Lucas could film himself puking over and over and over, and we'd all say, "wow,...

Re: James Cameron: The Ego Behind AVATAR

OMFG, what an error I've made by not being a brainless, slavish fanboy without a real opinion of my own. Thanks for setting me straight on that.

Re: 2009 Golden Globe Nominations

Yes I did, and it looked more like an action movie than anything else, but certainly not a pure comedy or musical.

Re: James Cameron: The Ego Behind AVATAR

Listen, we all know you're the resident "King of the Fanboys" so it's hardly surprising that you take any perceived slight against Avatar or (your chosen God) James Cameron in a very personal...

Re: AVATAR--I have the sneaking suspicion....

Re: AVATAR--I have the sneaking suspicion....

Huh, did you even read the reviews?

ALL of those comments I posted were taken from the POSITIVE reviews - they love the visuals, but find the story weak and preachy. I guess that translates into a...

Re: James Cameron: The Ego Behind AVATAR

My favorite part of reading this type of article is to laugh at all the angry fanboy "comments" with them all screaming like stuck pigs.

Re: AVATAR--I have the sneaking suspicion....

Ebert also loved The Phantom Menace, Matrix Reloaded and Daredevil.

Since he got sick, he seems to love everything big-budget and flashy, and has even remarked that "life is too short" to be...

Re: AVATAR--I have the sneaking suspicion....

I'm not seeing them, and all the reviewers are lauding is the special FX, while the story is getting hammered by quite a few.

As visual spectacle, Avatar is indelible, but as a movie it all but...

I hate fights like that - Jones annihilated Hammill *before* he threw the first elbow, punched him, kicked him, tossed him around like a rag-doll, bloodied him up on the ground, then suddenly one bad...
