Re: CAA reached deal with WGA

Exactly, though this definitely comes as a surprise. I thought for sure CAA and WME were getting out of the literary rep business. Maybe WME still is, but who knows at this point.

What are you basing this decision on? Reputation? Size of the company? How many people they get on the Black List?

It's almost impossible to pick a company without going through the process of...

Re: Theme and Opposing conflict

I'm going to copy and paste from Wikipedia, since I don't have time to write anything lengthy on my own. But I will say that Alien is one of the more over-analyzed movies in regard to theme and...

Re: Attachments to project

You have a script out to Brad, Matt, and Denzel at the same time (these are the first names that popped to mind, so don't over analyze). Anyway, Brad and Denzel both want to play the lead. That means...

Re: Made the Black List "Top List" - how can I use that?

That's a good question. It depends on his argument against a particular idea. If he feels that it's not an original take or knows that there are seven other scripts floating around about the same...

Re: Made the Black List "Top List" - how can I use that?

You only get trapped in that manager development hell if you allow it. I know it's difficult to say to no, but with some things you have to. And it takes going through a manager or two until you're...

Re: Made the Black List "Top List" - how can I use that?

Agree with some of this, namely that opportunities are shrinking in film (TV is the exact opposite) and getting your scripts to a higher level.

What I don't agree with is spending time going after...

Re: Made the Black List "Top List" - how can I use that?

Agree with Satriales that your scores aren't going to knock anybody's socks off. And I don't see how this list helps, to be honest. I had to scroll waaaaay down to find yours (and only after opening...

Re: New Ideas

The short of it is, I don't wait around to be struck by an idea. I actively seek them out. Once I settle on one, I typically realize it's some topic or theme I've already been thinking about for...

Re: A good time for new US reps?

This. Always be proactive in your career. Yes, sometimes things will fall into your lap, but that only seems to happen if you're actively chasing opportunities on your own.

Re: Picking Right Idea
