Re: What are your "once is enough" films?

Most superhero films are one and done for me. Ones that are big on effects but not so much in rich characters and conflicts that are dimensional. But the Christopher Reeve Superman I and II are...

Re: Widows

I had some of the reservations Ire had. There were some unnecessary and contrived scenes that left me and the rest of the audience hanging. That time could have been better served on the ultimate...

Re: I, Tonya

A very fast paced two hours. Movie magic and domestic abuse scenes may bother some, but all in all, a sharp, darkly hilarious film. Janney so good. So good.

Re: Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

Loved it. Disagree about the final 15 minutes. I thought it was brilliant from start to finish. Sharply written script really made me feel as though the characters were right next door to me. No...

Joker Origin Story

To be produced by Marty and perhaps co-written/directed by Todd Phillips.
Any picks on who should play him?

Re: Telephone Call Montage

Yeah. ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN probably best example. Took a scribe like Goldman to make that kinda thing concise and impactful.

Re: Dunkirk

Caught it with a friend. One of those films that grow on you as it goes by.

The lack of character development criticism I keep hearing about didn't bother me because, in a way, by the end, I did...

Tarantino Tackles Manson

Somewhat disappointed with the subject matter given that this is "reportedly" his second to last project?

Spider-Man Homecoming

Enjoyed Spider-Man Homecoming. Alot of fun. Holland, Batalon, Downey Jr. and Keaton were all excellent. Had this fast paced Back to the Future/Breakfast Club vibe too for those remember those...

Re: Why the love?

Alot of comedies. Didn't like WEDDING CRASHERS or 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN. Guess it takes a lot to make me laugh. Loved DEADPOOL though.

Re: Wonder Woman

Agree. If she has powers then being ripped is really moot and would actually lack credibility.

Re: Besides Unforgiven ...

I'd say High Plains Drifter or Play Misty For Me.

Eastwood is like a slightly harder version of Ron Howard. Both commercial, both exceptional. But they tend to leave a bland taste after the film...

Re: Deadpool

Loved the humor and how the film toyed with action/adventure conventions. Loads of hilarious lines. Pleasant surprise to see veteran actress Leslie Uggams in a movie like this. Top notch action....

That DP from Hungary

Burt Reynolds felt that him not getting an Oscar nom for his cinematography in DELIVERANCE was a travesty. Tend to agree
