Re: What is the difference?

Not disputing what anyone else says, just offering my own simpleminded interpretation and use of these terms. To continue with Jaws as the example:

Premise: A shark terrorizes a coastal New England...

Re: Parentheticals

I asked why, and you gave me an answer.

If you ever do decide to spend a few dollars, do not get Movie Magic Screenwriter. It is never upgraded anymore and has not been for years. I was a...

Re: Parentheticals

With that out of the way, I will add that there are still good policies.

GOOD POLICY
The most standard "continued" for a CHARACTER is (CONT'D), placed right after the CHARACTER...

Re: Font

Honestly, I do not know what the convention is, if there is any, for nonscreenplay items such as synopses and series bibles.

It probably does not matter. Maybe someone here has experience with...

Re: Wrap for Fountain files ... but what's with "Estella?"

Centos,

(Movie Magic) Screenwriter has not had an upgrade in years, as far as I know, and I do check every once in a while. I was actually a beta-tester for version 6, and that was a long time ago....

Re: Wrap for Fountain files ... but what's with "Estella?"

So he was using a SHOT format for anything that began with EST because of ESTABLISHING?

I have done some programming, and I have to say that this is the kind of thing that a programmer should know...

Re: Wrap for Fountain files ... but what's with "Estella?"

Try Courier Screenplay instead of Courier Prime. It is just as dark.

You can get it from the Fade In website.

Courier Screenplay does not have the "true italics" feature of Courier Prime, but the...

Re: Wrap for Fountain files ... but what's with "Estella?"

I downloaded the program and ran a couple of experiments. I also downloaded the code, but have not looked at it except to see what the programming language is.

The program is coded in something...

Re: Fade In Mobile

I do not use anything that Apple produces. My tablet and my phone are Android.

However, I can tell you that the mobile app is the only part of Fade In that I have ever had a problem with. And I...

Just now seeing this ...

Congratulations to kidd and to Jai.

I do not know kidd (sorry if I have just forgotten!), but I know that Jai has been working on his craft for several years.

Good luck to...

Re: Dialogue question

Nobody calls the police if you do not write it a certain way.

That said, the preferable way is to use parentheticals for character directions, which are things like emotions, facial expressions, and...

Re: Flat Out Rude?

Hey, catcon ... I just have to do this.

You wrote 51 scripts in nine years, and most of them in the first six years?

Would you consider sending me your best script (in your opinion) and let me...

Re: QUESTION: Transfer Final Draft to New Computer

Hello, Barh ... Yes, you ought to check out Fade In (https://www.fadeinpro.com/). This is not some kind of fly-by-night , here-today-gone-tomorrow schlocky application.

I have written several...

I think I would end a scene with an action line that is something like the following. Of course, identify what kind of device you are talking about.

He clicks on the device.

Then I would start a...

Re: Creating a Series Based (in part) on Personal Experiences

Lisa ... I skim-read most of the replies.

Here is the way that it works in the law. Someone can always hire a lawyer who will go down to the courthouse and file a suit against you. It is just a risk...

You say that you went to a "subpar" film school. What do you mean by that? In what way did the school let you down?

Seriously, as a lifelong educator in a couple of very different...

Re: Another use for Jstar AsciiDoc

The paragraph indents come from the Trelby text file, I assume.

I...

I will have a go at it again.

And you are worried whether you can write 4 pages a day for 30 days?

You could easily write twice that number every day.

Really ... I mean,...
