  • Anthology Movies

I have had this thought of writing an Anthology Movie of late.

    Movies like:Paris, Je T'aime

    or

    horror masterpiece --

    Black Sabbath
Is this genre still viable in this market? I'm not sure of this is specable (is that even a word?). I was thinking that I would try and film this myself. Is a movie like this even attractive to a distributor?

Just thinking out loud here before I get too far in working this out. Or just screw it and write what I want...

It doesn't sound like your very focused yet so it makes it hard to get onboard with you. I don't have a vision of your vision yet.

Bad writing on my part. Even though it's a thought in my head, it's a very well defined thought. I just don't like to give out my story ideas on this board. Just a short here or there.

But, what I am really asking for are thoughts about the viability of Anthology scripts/movies in the market place.

I've had the same notion since seeing Paris, Je T'aime.

I've been working on full SPs so haven't had a chance to really think about it yet, but i think it might be a fun exercise at the very least. I've never written a short film script... so writing several revolving around one theme would be a challenge for me.

Are you familiar with an exercise conducted by Mystery Man on Film? http://mysterymanonfilm.blogspot.com/ I vaguely remember him having several aspiring writers write a short script with the theme of "Love", and another on "Hate". One person could do the same thing by themselves.

I can't speak to the marketability of something like this. Maybe some people in the DV indie scene would be interested in a (small scale) collaboration. (??)

          Re: Anthology Movies

I started writing shorts from the get go. I've never had problems coming up with 1-30 page scripts. So, I might as well use that slight skill and make an anthology.

Now features, this is my love. But sometimes this love kicks me in the teeth.

Anyway, I've been researching Anthologies and came across these references:
