Re: Original superheroes?
Also:
Chronicle
Megaman
Sky High
Super was a well-liked low budget film, that found some success
Defendor is a cult fave
On TV, Heroes and the excellent British series Misfits.
It's a short list, because there is a great wealth of established material to choose from.

I think we've mentioned pretty much all American, contemporary titles. There are some foreign titles, old films, and possible DTV-flicks or TV-movies that haven't been mentioned.
But it could be argued how "successful" those have been.

Re: Original superheroes?
Hmm, 2 pages & no substantial successes yet (except perhaps Robocop). Any thoughts on the dearth/lack of success of original superheroes?
Seems like if you had a cool enough concept & compelling enough characters it SHOULD work (not many people gave a hoot about Iron Man, until Favreau and Downey sexed him up).
Is it just that no one's created a compelling enough character yet, or that studios won't throw the necessary funds behind an unproven hero, or something else entirely Hollywood's keeping secret from me?12 Angry Men is proof that all you need is a bunch of good actors, good characters, clear motivations and a table. -- Ben Odgren; Go into the Story

Even including Hancock and Incredibles, I'd still say there's a lack of success with new superheroes. My question still stands... any educated guesses as to why?12 Angry Men is proof that all you need is a bunch of good actors, good characters, clear motivations and a table. -- Ben Odgren; Go into the Story
