  • Yay - My Book available...

As of today, my novel The Coveting has been published. It is currently available though create space, but in a couple days it will be available on Amazon and Kindle ( it's much cheaper)

I wrote the first draft of this back in 1989, BY HAND while I was still in High school. It has seen a few revisions since then but has remained largely unchanged since the 1994 version and a 2002 tweaking when I got deep in screenplays and it become the basis of my first ( not so good) screenplay.

Dusted it off and used online publishing.

Hope you like. In many ways this was written for my dad who loved both scary stuff and action. Might not be award winning but it will take you on a wild and scary ride.

    Cheers

    Cool, good luck with it!

I'm doing the same, but started with a short to learn how ebook publishing works. If you're curious, http://www.amazon.com/NIGHTS-CURSE-A...006698011_f_10

Hit top 10 in its category under the free promo. Fun stuff.

      Congrats!

I think I started writing mine about the same time, so it's a great feeling when it finally all comes together and you see it 'out there.'

      Hope it's a bestseller!

Congrats to both of you. Great idea to start with a short story to test the waters. I'm turning one of my scripts into a YA novel as well. Any tips you guys are learning re: e-Books?

Re: Yay - My Book available...

Happy to talk about it if you have any questions - I'm putting out a non-fiction and 2 fiction books later this month on my own, and shortly after 2 fiction books with a publisher - it will be fun to see the difference in how the two paths treat me.

Formatting is pretty easy, I wouldn't worry about that, but I would definitely recommend you get a good editor and cover artist. I've had 3 editors now on one of my novels, and I keep finding problems. You could argue I had bad editors, but I don't think that's it- Guy Kawasaki said he used like 10 people before he was happy, and even then his publisher found mistakes! It's crazy, but you need some major editing work if you want to be taken seriously.

Congrats to the OP. It seems a lot of DDers are going the novel route on Amazon. I'm still plugging away on mine.
Advice from writer, Kelly Sue DeConnick. "Try this: if you can replace your female character with a sexy lamp and the story still basically works, maybe you need another draft.-
