    Re: Nicholl entry number

Got the blank email, never got the 2nd. Tried replying and forwarding but the number won't show. Can't even log-in to my AMPAS account!
Still, am trusting I'm in there because I have the email...

I received my resent one with text today. Thank you. And thanks to everyone for their replies.

Aha! There it is. High 4000s. Not bad considering I only got it in 6 hours before the amended deadline. That means 1600-odd left it laaaaaaaaaaate.

                        reader fatigue?

How legitimate do y'all think this reader fatigue thing really is?

I know that Doug himself suggested a mid-number screenplay would be ideal, but how concerned are you really?

Since the average Nicholl reader is probably a weathered reader, and a veteran of the competition, don't you think they're responsible enough to pace themselves?

I'm curious to hear what y'all have to say...

                          Re: Nicholl entry number

people use that as excuse for failure when the truth is what they wrote was just crap. i can imagine a reader going thru script after script bored outta their skull... and as soon as they start something that intrigues them they will wake up and keep reading page after page.

                            Re: Nicholl entry number

I am in the upper 800's. Thought it was a good number to get... gives the readers sometime to get in the groove, but hopefully before burn out sets in.

This is about right. But I do wonder if the first couple thousand entries get read with a more critical eye, then after that maybe the readers are just looking for anything remotely decent.

I'm happy with being in the 800's- I want to be judged as harshly as possible, because anything less would feel like a Pyrrhic victory.
                              Words... they don't arrange themselves.

I could live with a pyrrhic victory.
