It was a close battle between Inception and Social Network but Inception won out by a handful of votes. Though Inception was released in the summer, apparently it did something right to so resonate in audience's minds at the end of the year.
I'm surprised Shutter Island didn't garner more votes but even I thought it was released last year since it came out so early this year in February. Some more surprises are True Grit placing at the bottom but it was released late in December. In comparison, Black Swan was released a couple of weeks before and ranks third. I imagine when the Academy nominations roll around True Grit will place higher. The biggest surprise of all is The Fighter receiving only one vote. I've heard lots of good things about it but apparently people don't love it enough to mark it as a favorite.
It's heartening to see such a diverse list of movies at the top of the list with the blockbuster in Inception, the fall drama Social Network and indies like Winter's Bone. What stands out is that done deal members' favorite movies are both thought-provoking and entertaining.
