It's all in the way you pitch it. I've pitched really specific things in generals before. Things that could only get made at one place, with one person, etc. etc. Lots of times its just to get the conversation going about other ideas with the hopes that the exec may latch on and share my passion for it. But this is literally what generals are for. Getting to know each other and kicking around ideas.
Anecdote: I had a general once at a big production company that started off totally normal. Then the exec mentioned that they own an anime streaming service, and the rest of the meeting was us talking about our favorite animes. He didn't even give me his card at the end of the meeting. A week later they went out to me for an assignment. Point is, you never know with generals. Just go with the flow.
