Man, this forum has been quiet for a long time. No questions?

Well if this isn't a prompt I don't know what is. If I've submitted pages for the advanced section how long does it usually take for them to be moderated and appear in the thread list? It's been around 2 or 3 weeks and I was wondering whether that's normal? Thanks in advance (sorry in advance if I f'd up).

Your script is still in there. The guys haven't been doing as many notes lately, and sometimes they go in order but sometimes they skip around, so yours has gotten skipped, probably because whoever did the notes felt more prepared to read something else first. They'll get to it eventually. I suspect they're very busy. If it's any consolation, there are 8 sets of pages waiting for notes, including mine.

Back on this specific forum's topic....
What I found interesting in the Garant/Lennon book re: "Writing Movies For Fun And Profit" was that their software selection -- and it was truly BOLDED OUT -- was Final Draft. I mean, they were all over it with recommendations. After seeing the truly intuitive and more importantly innovative productivity tools seamlessly incorporated into Movie Magic -- I don't get why these kings of pragmatism would go with Final Draft. Unless, that's the point, everyone's "more secure" with it than MM so don't create unnecessary export/import problems. (....and of course there already is an extensive DDP thread on those points.) |

You're looking for formatting questions? Maybe people are finally using the FAQ, or SEARCH, or just looking back to old posts to solve their issues.
I thought that thread about scene count per page would give you a formatting fill. I suppose I could always start up another "is 88 pages too short for a script" thread. Or, you're looking for business questions? For the semi-literate business questions, the poor OP always gets slammed by the Dr. Sarcastic crowd for even asking. I can imagine the OPs skulking away (that word makes it into every one of my scripts: "Skulk"!!!) with their tail between their legs, wishing they'd never logged on. Or, how about help with contact management lists? There used to be the usual crowd that asked everybody else for email addresses for producers/agents/managers, but maybe we scared them off. I mean, there were people who'd posted 100 new threads and about 90 were "Can anybody give me the email for...?" One trick with this resource is, just go find a past thread you liked, that you never though was fully dealt with, or even was, and restart it! I've begun very, very few threads here. The last one I did start, "Silly replies to queries", was dead for months after my initial post. Then I went back and added a new "silly" reply comment, and suddenly everybody discovered it. It regularly reappears now, with some silly Monty Python type of comment from our beloved, prospective buyers or email recipients! ![]() C'mon, there's gotta be a contest thread, or a cheating manager thread, or something that appeals to ye' that you can resurrect!? |

I actually meant questions pertinent to this particular forum (not the other forums on Done Deal), but that's okay ... We will just be a bit off topic here.
I agree ... If people would also post their pages (at least some of the time) on the regular Script Pages, it would be nice, so that other people besides the pros could comment. Are you listening, Emily?... I thought your pages were pretty good. But of course I have a couple of notes. ![]()
