Does anyone know how sophocles is doing? Tim mentioned way back in June that a lock release date will be Aug 1st. came and went and nothing. I hope it's nothing concerning the company and that it's only a delay to continue on soft improvements. I didn't want to email him and bug him about the question he probably got from dozens of people.
Personally i'm using the latest build and i would be more than content with the way it is right now, but i am curious as to the delay.

Someone reported in this thread that the final version would be released around the end/start of 2007/2008.
You know that you can always add two or three months to these estimates, at least. ![]()

Too few people in the biz using it, too many tech issues.. Everyplace I submit uses Final Draft.

You should export in PDF, Pardack. Everyone takes PDF.

Can you load a PDF into Final Draft to edit it, though? I thought PDFs were a dead end as far as editing.

You cannot easily edit a PDF. There are ways to do it, but it is not quick and clean and easy. The best way is to convert the PDF to text with a special program that retains the formatting, and then import the text file. Ironically, this works almost flawlessly (and sometimes completely flawlessly) in Sophocles but poorly in Final Draft.
The real issue here is that life is much easier when everyone uses the same screenwriting program. However, it is sad to have to use something that you would prefer not to.
