Robocop, in my opinion, was a comment on conformity and learning to fight the establishment.

I always thought it was a satire on the consumer boom during a time where we completely lost any sense of perspective and it was all about bigger, better, faster, first.

ED209, for example, is the ultimate embodiment of overblown American excess – a gigantic, foul tempered, borderline psychotic rocket launcher on legs, that will not only kill you, but mutilate your corpse as it continues to pump round after round into your quivering, lifeless body well after you’ve expired if it decides that you’ve glanced at it the wrong way.

Interesting take. You could be right too

I think both of our interpretations can go hand-in-hand. That is, how big business has grown into impossibly huge entities with unspeakable power -- destructive power. We can even argue that to defeat them (it) you have to become them and even love them a little just like Murphy eventually comes to terms with being Robocop.

Whoa. Too much thought being placed on guy in a aluminum suit. Just give him a sexy partner, his auto-pistol and a squad car and that's all we need... Right?

The first Robocop is one of the best movies I've ever seen (even if much of it is based on Judge Dredd - the original comic version, not the Stallone version).

Robocop is returning to the big screen - 15 years after the cyborg crimefighter handed over his badge and gun.
Filmmaker Darren Aronofsky - famous for movies Pi and Requiem for a Dream - has signed on to direct the fourth installment of the franchise, reports Daily Variety.
The movie, a 'noir' take on the story about a murdered cop who is brought back to life as a robot, is slated for a 2010 release.
