Sharon versus Boomer

Obviously I'm a little late to the game, but I just recently rented the whole Battlestar Galactica series, and there's one thing I missed. Where did Sharon 2 come from? Boomer, the original BG crew member, left her co-pilot on Caprica and rejoined the ship, jumping across the universe for months on end. Then her duplicate Sharon appears out of nowhere on Caprica to rescue Helo. However, Boomer is still alive, so this new Sharon is not a download of that same specific model, that only happens after resurrection. She has all her memories and experiences, and yet this is not a resurrection, and so, more importantly, what is she doing there? I don't recall the Cylons ordering her so where did she come from and why?

This has been BUGGING me.
