Hi...
Well I am one of the few still using Sophocles, even if it does not have a French dictionary. I just find this piece of software too perfect, even with its flaws. So to the other users, I have a question: since I love the way Sophocles handles LOCATIONS and the way you can group locations (I do location scouting when I do not write)... I want to know how you handle back and forth scenes from one location to the other. I was kind of expecting Sophocles to "understand" that INT. APPARTEMENT DE JIM and RETOUR À - APPARTEMENT DE JIM [INT. JIM'S APARTMENT and BACK TO - JIM'S APARTEMENT) is about the same location, but it does not seem to work that way. How do you deal with it? Just using INT [LOCATION] all the time? |

Oh, Sophocles ... I have to brush away a tear when I think of the demise of that wonderful program.
I think you probably have to use the same master scene heading. One reason that I have gone to using master scene headings in place of minislugs for locations within a scene is that you can easily group your scenes that way.

I completely weened myself off Sophocles about a year ago.
But now I'm getting a new computer. So I guess it's really goodbye. I can't help feeling sad.

Wiping away a tear again ... It is so sad that the program that had so many features, and ran with stunning speed, disappeared (not just died, but disappeared without a trace).
Anyone who still uses Sophocles should check out this discussion forum on Story Link. The link is to the first of about 26 pages of discussion. You might want to browse through the discussion history, which continues from 2008 through the current month. You may be surprised to discover that Sophocles had a rather large user base. The multitude of people who have posted in the forum must represent only a tiny fraction of people who actually used the program. If you had a legitimate license to use Sophocles, you can find an easy workaround on the forum that will allow you to install and use Sophocles on a new computer.
