Based on a friend's experience and some other things I've read, the whole operation swirls around Gordy Hoffman and his massive ego. Either you (quite literally) buy into his "tough love" approach and fondness for quirky screenplays that capture his attention despite having no apparent commercial appeal, or you're likely to be disappointed. Notes are hit-and-miss, but mostly miss; and if readers are being hired off the street at ten bucks a script, it's not hard to understand why.
