Anybody check this out? Even if you don't have Starz you can watch the first episode on most VOD platforms.
Really love the tone and feel of the show. It's got this creepy, almost surreal quality to it. Kelsey Grammer is pitch-perfect for the part. Highly recommend. |

Yeah, I very much liked it. Can't wait to see how this develops.

I really have to say people, this show is just fantastic. If you have Starz, tonight (friday) they're showing the first two episodes (already aired) followed by the new third episode. Starts at 8pm central, so for you west coasters it'll be episode 1 @ 6:00pm, 2 @ 7:00, 3 & 8:00.
I gotta fight for this show because not only is it filmed in my city (Chicago), but the writing is superb and KELSEY GRAMMER CAN ACT! Holy crap, is he brilliant. I gave him no credit before watching the show, but he reminds me a lot of Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad)... from comedy actors to emmy-worthy dramatic performances. Boss is fun. The politics in it are so delightfully dirty... check it out! |

hell yeah. Doesn't hurt that it's on Starz too so its a little more raunchy the only discordant note is the SPOILER [ DRuggie/minister/medical ] daughter. It's almost like the guy who was supposed to play his son pulled out last minute so the producer decided to just combine the two...

This was a great first season. It kept getting better towards the end, but I was a little disappointed with the final episode to be honest. Still, I will definitely watch season two.
I am surprised that some say they only now realized that Kelsey Grammer could act. I would imagine comedy to be one of the most challenging genres for actors and he was just great on Frasier. It is good to see him in another role, though, as it looked for a long time as if he would never find a suitable project again.

Overall I'd call the first season great, but uneven. It'd often lose me for big chunks of time, then grip me right back in.
And wow... that last episode... so incredibly dark. |

Watched the season on vod. Good to great stuff. Quite compelling and Grammer's dramatic chops are impressive. Watched it in two nights. Definitely looking forward to next season.
SPOILER ALERT: ************************************************** ******** The Martin Donovan character being the traitor was unfortunately given away by the credits. Donovan wasn't listed in the regular cast, but in the supporting cast from the first ep. Once you know there's a traitor inside Kane's camp, and you look at the credits... I do have issue with him being shot. If it's meant to come back and bite Kane in the ass which could very well be the case, then fine, but shooting him in his apartment is huge sloppy. A much more discreet and removed from Chicago ending for Ezra Stone, would have made incredibly more sense. ************************************************** **********

SPOILER:
*** I didn't catch the give-away in the credits, good job. I agree with you about the murder of Ezra Stone. For one, I liked the character and hoped he would not be killed, as he was a calm counterpart to Grammer's character. Still, one might argue that Kane has been making more and more irrational decisions, so at least the writers can defend themselves. ; ) But yes, I think it was a lazy way of getting all story lines wrapped up. As I wrote above, I wasn't too happy with the finale. I think the two episodes leading up to it must have been my favorite, because the atmosphere was getting really dark. ***

SPOILER:
*** I was sad with the murder as well. I liked the character a lot, but I appreciate how I never knew where the show was going. They can always give us new characters to love next season. But yeah, shooting him in his apartment... not too discrete. Fun fact, I know the shooter. I worked with him on a video shoot in Chicago, and he's a fantastic actor. It's been fun watching him terrorize people. *** |

SPOILER:
********* If I remember correctly, when Kane is in his office confronting his own hallucination in the shape of Stone, Stone advises him how to retaliate and he says something like it should be visible for everyone so that it serves as a warning. Something like that, at least. ********* |
