Hey,
I'm writing a scene where a character is at a bar watching a news program. How do I handle transitioning to the news program within the script? FWIW, The TV program is an interview with an eccentric character in his home. I want to take a few lines to describe the setting, but adding a new slugline looks weird. Right now, I'm just writing "ON THE TV:" then continuing on with the action. It seems a little off either way. What's the right call here? Thanks, Frap |

You can do it that way, ON THE TV, and then use the same kind of caps when you're AT THE BAR so it's clear.

Yeah, I'd go with that.
INT. BAR - NIGHT Bar Guy sips beer and eats nuts. ON THE TV: Male News Anchor is behind his desk. NEWS ANCHOR This just in: I'm not wearing any pants. He stands up, showing he's not wearing underwear either. BACK AT THE BAR: Bar guy spits up beer and nuts. |
