The title of the thread gives it away, you don't even have to... ehhh whatever.

You are unschooled in the ways of the Internet, young Padawan. Once you learn the ways of Force, you will know of Poe's Law ... the Midichlorians which exist in every parody and satire.

Meh, not that different or any less useful than what the other screenwriting seminar gurus are all hawking... other than the fact that BDZ has a screenwriting career.

Funny.... I figured it was a joke because someone would have already been selling the book, seminar and webinars if actually true.

two thrusts run in tandem (the outer story and the inner story). as a writer incrementally moves up the ladder (escalates) of the outer story using cause and effect to control dramatic thrust, the mythological thrust runs in tandem and controls the emotional draw on audience sensibilities. i've slowly been becoming aware of this process but thought i might be losing my mind. i think you can elevate the interior momentum by applying small measures of conflict to the mythological thrust to increase the emotional draw and thereby skate over necessary forced plot schisms. if you're focusing on the push/pull of emotion (as an audience member) brought about by applied conflict then i think the schisms aren't as noticeable.

Were you joking? Or did you actually understand this thing called "mythological thrust."

a little of both. i knew bdz was joking by the terms he used so i used those terms in light jest. my sincere apologies for not including a wink. the mythological thrust, the forward momentum of the hero's journey, struck a chord in conjunction with the 3 act structure. i've had them both on my mind lately i'm afraid i got a little excited about posting.

Ah - I understand... Now I'm wondering if we can come up with a fake definition of mythological thrust - 'cause it sounds kind of sexy in a writerly way.

I think BDZ was telling the truth, and his A list friends got pissed and told him to kill the thread.
