I have two minor characters in the script, none of whom matter beyond that they're gonna be delivering messages. Is it ok to refer to them as THE KID #1 and THE KID #2 and not give them any character description, or would that be regarded as either bad writing or bad formatting?

I'd at least define them by their jobs, MESSAGE BOY #1 and MESSAGE BOY #2 -- that way we don't need big explanations, let their names do the work.
