Default Cv

A producer I am in contact with, has asked to see my "CV" (which I'm assuming means Curriculum vitae).

This is the first time I've been asked for this. What exactly would you send?

Just competitions you placed in, short and features you've sold with a little mini bio about you.

I'd include relevant education too. Film school or whatever. Just put the focus on the writing / film stuff you've done.

In British/Australian English, it's used interchangeably with resume - although, by its true definition, it probably shouldn't be. (But that's for another thread. Probably a boring one, too.)

Anything relevant to your screenwriting experience... degrees or courses taken, screenplays written, any options or sales, contests in which you've placed, etc.

The only other thing I'd mention is if you have experience in the world you're writing about - if it's the script your pitching, at any rate. I say this because it's a question that often comes up, particularly if you're writing about a world or life that is very specific.

It can help if it's on your CV.

(Example, my feature script is set in Japan, so it was worth mentioning in my CV that I lived and worked there for a couple of years. Particularly the industry I wrote about as it's not a common job and the world is very specific and unusual. It was the one subject that came up in every meeting or consultation I had with it. Definitely worth having it on the page. It loosened up conversations for me because it was a world I felt confident talking about knowing they would know little about it.)
