Okay so I'm not the only one who thought that was weird.

Wait a second -- I didn't even see that part. I read it as the CE gave him *notes* which he then exercised. The exec actually did work on the script? Like, changed words and sht? Like you gave him the FDX file and ... ? None of this makes any sense to me. Why would you even -- Oh good god. Like BDZ said, no no no no no no no no no no no.

Jesus, here's to hoping you never hear from him again, for your sake.

Yeah, that's crazy. They thought they'd come across a script in better shape than any other script they'd ever come across... and instead of giving you notes, someone at the company did a rewrite?

That's completely bush league. It's really weird - I can't even imagine how they thought it was appropriate.

If this really is a legit company, it sounds like some low level guy is trying to make a play for himself in a very unprofessional way.

I think everyone read it wrong.

BDZ gets the reading comprehension award.

I emailed him telling him if circumstances have changed, and hes decided to pass that I appreciated the brief time we spoke and I wish him the best.
THIS email was premature.
you sound like you had sex with someone on the third date and thought, "this is the one!" and since he didn't call you a week later you think, "maybe he's just not into me."

Yes.

This is a good thread.

Do NOT let other people write on your scripts.

Do NOT jump the gun. People disappear all the time. Don't interpret what it means. Emailing prematurely = no good. Saying, "oh, well, I guess you didn't like it" makes you look bad.

YOU make the agreed upon changes. I think it is a terrible precedent. And it's the kind of thing that can blossom into something retarded. Maybe it's just me, but I would have a fvcking meltdown. I don't even want producers/execs correcting a spelling mistake.

If it's a director, fine. But Goddamn.
A producer once gave my script to her assistant who fixed my spelling errors and reworded some of my action lines.

I flipped! I very rarely lose my temper but in that case I sure did.

First off, why is she sending my script to ANYONE without my knowledge, and that includes her assistant.

Secondly, who touches someone else's work without being asked?

I never worked with that producer again.
