Re: Star Trek Into Darkness
Looks way too similar to other invasion/attack movies. This is not what Star Trek should be about. Really weird choice.
It's almost like bandwagon filmmaking. "This sh|t is hot right now so we're gonna make another one under a different name."

Good teaser. Interesting they didn't show space, but I'm going to have faith it's there Yes, it looks similar to other films, but it's a teaser. That's probably an intentional strategy. Can't judge yet.
I feel for the Trekkies who don't like seeing their franchise abused, but I liked the last one and look forward to the new one.

I'm speculating a Kahn type story, where Cumberbatch brings the Federation Council to its knees.

Those actors don't do it for me. Bad casting IMO.

Re: Star Trek Into Darkness
Kahn again though? Really? This is just pitiful.
The trailer just looks like they went and made their own hyper-action movie and slapped the Star Trek name on it.
They should've just did Cowboy's and Aliens 2. Or Transformers and Aliens and Cowboys. Or Transalienboys.

Re: Star Trek Into Darkness
JJ does a great job of making Star Trek look cool and sexy, which is no small feat considering the source material.
JJ's Trek is hardly thinking man's sci-fi, but then when has Star Trek ever been that anyway?
I think Stanislaw Lem, the great author of Solaris summed it up pretty well when he described Star Trek as 'incredibly stupid'. That it is, that it most certainly is.
It was never smart or cool, at least now it's cool, so to that end, JJ has done well.
