  • Warner Bros./ UTA

Does anyone know which agent(s) are on the Warner Bros. desk at UTA if they even do that? I know there is sort of a cumulative effort over there, so this may just be off base but thought I would put it out there anyway. Thanks.

I pm'd you. Just figured someone here might know. If I have a script in Warner Bros. format it would seem to make sense to try and query agents that cover that studio, that's all. Thanks.

        Re: Warner Bros./ UTA

Okay, perhaps this thread should be dead. However, before it goes away I wanted to share the thought behind it.. John and Craig have the perfect answer to the unending question of How Do I Get an Agent and/or Manager?

If you have not read it and you do not have an agent you should read it.

        The transcript is here:

        http://johnaugust.com/2011/scriptnotes-ep-2-how-to-get-an-agent-andor-manager-transcript

Spoiler Warning...it is really, really good-- but the REALLY beautiful nugget that stood out for me there from Craig was the question:

"Which agent or manager should get me?-

Do I really think that an agent at UTA may pick me up because I feel I have a script more relevant to Warner Bros than other studios?

Not really, but if the script is more of a fit for Warner Bros would it not make more sense to try and contact the agent who may be working with them in hopes that they may have a reader who recognizes the script as something Warner Bros. may- just possibly- be interested in, thereby increasing the chances that the reader may pass it up, not just 'pass'? Certainly a more tactical approach than say shot-gunning a query to every email address I have in hopes that somebody who has a relationship with Warner Bros. might not just delete the query upon arrival.

A little homework goes a long way-- I have heard of first impressions where agents get letters addressed to them as Mr. and they are a Ms. If you don't take the time on the front end how well would you do in actual meetings?

If nothing else at least I have gotten a few more posts off so someday I may not be a New User ... though if I am actually going to do the 'homework' I need to actually subscribe to DDPro and not be a hypocrite.
