  • Managers for Small, Indie movies?

    Hi everyone,
I've been looking around -for quite some time- for a manager in the US who could represent one of my indie drama. Granted that most managers want to sell movies for big bucks (ain't nothing wrong with that), make you work on owa and mingle with agents, but I hope that there are a few -small- managers who can take care and "carry" indie projects.

I send querries to managers and agents : no reply. (or : sorry, we don't do indie)
Sent to powerhouse/middle/ "studio" independent : no reply
Sent to two directors - whose works had been selected in Cannes, Berlin and Venice- they both reply : one is re-reading the script, the other loves the writing and wants me to work on his other project.
The script is really good, Palme d'or or Golden Bear material, and as the movie takes place in a specific region of the US, it has to be shot there. I can't take care of e-querring all the good directors in the US, as I have an assignement for an european project. So, yeah, I need a "small indi-ish manager".

    Any leads?

    Thanks

Just a thought, but wouldn't you be better off querying directors, seeing as the two you wrote to both loved it? I know you wrote that you don't really have time to do that, but since you're going to put the time in contacting managers, seems like it could be better spent getting in touch with directors.

If a prominent director takes an interest in your work and wants to make your script into a movie, seems like managers will want to work with you anyway.

        Either way, good luck.
