That's my thought for every contest -- writers really need that long to write 8 pages?! But real life has a way of popping up without warning, so yes sometimes folks do need that long.

StoryWriter, heck of a dream. Reminds me of the time I woke up and my missus was moving my hand so I could sign legal forms.

Probably in, but I do not understand if entries are due on the 25th or the 31st.

            Re: The next writing exercise

I think the deadline is the 25th (which gives us time for voting before Halloween comes around) and the theme is suggested in the 1st post above.

Concur. The “big reveal” plot twist is out of the bag already. The only difference, it seems, will be setting and character. Even so, I have an idea that may ameliorate that to some degree.

Eight pages by the 25th of October. Okay. Count me in, too.

                  Re: The next writing exercise

I consider myself a mostly un-senile person, but I'm trying to figure out if this contest is supposed to have a twist at the end or if it supposed to be about something else.

I'll try to slip in the 1st post theme suggestion if I can, but if it isn't going to earn me 99 bonus points, maybe I shouldn't angst about it, maybe just a Halloween-y theme or horror story will do just fine!

To be honest I'm not sure. When I suggested the idea it had just popped up as a meme on FB. Thought what the hell.

So yeah I guess a twist or muddying the waters in 8 pages and surprising folks when you get to the natural conclusion... or thinking about it, what if that's the start of your 8?

                        Re: The next writing exercise

Mine’s ready to submit for peer review. As ordered, I have eight full pages in glorious 12-point Courier Screenplay font. Title Page, or no Title Page? In what format do you like the submissions? Where does one send them?

As a “Writing Exercise” virgin, you’ll have to guide me. Please... be gentle.

Unless dpaterso wants to handle the pointy end (given my proven and embarrassing inability to count past three and tally scores) send them through to me.

                            Practice makes perfect, go you!

                            From the previous Southern_land contest:

                            address shanecameron65(at)yahoo(dot)co(dot)nz

I've written something too but I'll let it fester for a while before sending, better ideas might pop up during the next 10+ days.
