Re: Where to stay in LA?

I'm right where the 10 meets the 405. Very convenient for getting just about anywhere in town.

I could never live in Hollywood. It's a dump!

What is the name of the area you live in? If you're trying to book something on AirBnB, for example. Is it considered part of Santa Monica?

I stopped in Culver City for lunch one day and it seemed like a nice area, conveniently located. What's your opinion on it?

Kind of hard to have a discernible impression of a massive city over a week or two period...

Melrose, Fairfax, Fountain, Los Feliz/Silverlake (East Hollywood), etc. are all rife with great stuff.

When you guys talk about Hollywood... is that distinct from West Hollywood? Or do you just lump it all together?

Looking at Google maps really doesn't help me I think. My tiny brain just can't translate the map on my 15.6" to real life. I will keep thinking it's all so close together, until I fly over it and have a heart attack.

In my head, LA is just GTA Los Santos.

Hollywood is adjacent to West Hollywood (WeHo), but to the east of it. WeHo is generally "nicer" and more clean than Hollywood but spatially they are in the same vicinity

I did read WeHo a few times on AirBnB, and thought 'what the hell is WeHo?'

              It clicked eventually.

Not sure if you're a map person, but here are a couple of maps that show where the various neighborhoods are.

                (this map's prettier)

                (this map's just basic)

Re: Where to stay in LA?

Last few times I was in LA I stayed in Chinatown, and I used Uber and Lyft to get to meetings and parties around town. I too use Airbnb wherever and whenever I travel.

The most central location I can think of between the West Side and the valley would be Hollywood.

But for the ride sharing services, Lyft is often cheaper than Airbnb. So I use Lyft more domestically (though sometimes I use Uber too), but I always use Uber overseas.

If you have a specific idea of where the majority of your meetings would be, I would say get an Airbnb comparatively close by to save on Uber and Lyft.
