Not sure about that one. The Huron were stretched thin along the promontory ledge and couldn't get a clear bead on crazy old Chingachgook as he hacked his way through them towards Magua, plus Le Long Carabine was his tail gunner backup, snatching up unfired muskets and daring the survivors to try anything.
I thought the earlier clearing attack on the British by the massed Huron was an appropriately confusing clusterfrak that could have gone any way, which might be worth bearing in mind when writing such scenes.
