Lee "Scratch" "The upsetter" Perry - definately!

Syd Barret is a good choice - or why not Sly Stone?

For four years I lived just up the street from Syd Barret--never saw him once, even though I walked past his house almost every day. Rumor had it that he was living in his mother's basement. Not much of a movie there, I'm afraid.

I think someone has been trying to get a Germs movie made for years, but I can't see that ever getting made. I agree that a Scratch Perry bio would be a serious mindf*ck, in the right hands.

Also, I'd love to see a Joe Strummer biopic (hence my ridiculously circumspect screenname.)

No votes for Gary Glitter then?

My wittle web page - hack stories, failed novels, dud screenplays, terminal writer's block.

Etta: No, just until they kill you.

Jake,

have to disagree. I'd forgotten much about Barrett and did a quick wiki search. I think his life would make a great film, though not sure if you'd get the kids out.

Just watch Velvet Goldmine for a glimpse.

Do you people simply not watch independent films or something?

I think it was a reference to the possiblity that Gary might be executed in Vietnam in the near future. Plus, neither that you've cited are actual biopics, really. But your point is well-taken.

Sometimes life rights aren't all that easy to acquire.

Barry Gordy, founder of Motown Records.

It's a true rags to riches story that touches on the civil rights movement and the evolution of rock as one of the most important independent labels shaped American culture.

Plus you get to see all the great rock acts of the 20th century.

I have no idea why this story has never been told. But it should be.
