Some great flicks here.

The thing I dig about the classics is that even though a few of them may have aged plot-wise, they're still good for studying character.

And most of the dialogue still packs a punch today.

Double Indemnity
Cape Fear (original--amazing third act)
Rififi
The Postman Always Rings Twice (original)
Mildred Pierce (purely for the "loafing" line)
Laura
Gilda
Shadow of a Doubt (noir enough for me)
The Hitch-Hiker
Bladerunner
Body Heat
Brick
The Last Seduction
Out of Sight
Occam's Razor (oh, wait--that's in pre-prod, but it's gonna be gooood!)

...and in case anyone doesn't know, he's talking about '52 film (rather than the remake), and I agree. An A-quality B-movie. Viscerally exciting.

No Way Out hasn't been mentioned? For shame. Kevin Costner at his peak, Sean Young, and of course Gene Hackman. 1987. Love, sex, and murder in the Pentagon. After Chinatown, I'd say it's my favorite neo-noir. Hard to find on DVD, though.

the hijacking was of course the horror list which has absolutely nothing to do with film noir. nothing wrong with it but methinks you should have started your own thread for that.

Any chance you might have a collection of horror scripts in your cyber-satchel?

Indeed. He was very good in John Dahl's Red Rock West.

I didn't see if anybody had already mentioned Kill Me Again, but that's a pretty fun little Neo Noir by John Dahl also.

Kill Me Again is pretty good...there was this weird period in the early 90s where Joanne Whalley-Kilmer was an interesting actress...Kill Me Again and Trial By Jury.
