Training Day did NOT suck. But there were problems...

It's been a while, but if I remember right, at the end we learn Denzel was using Ethan Hawk's character to kill Scott Glen's character. If I'm right. Why did he have to go through all that stuff to do that? He's a cop, Scott Glen was a retired cop gone bad. He could have killed him and exposed his crimes, and Internal Affairs would have never thought about it again.

I know he was testing Hawk, but what for?
