  • The Way, Way Back

So many here talking about Lone Ranger's flop. But there's a low budget summer movie that is fantastic and really worth talking about. We saw The Way, Way Back yesterday and the place was packed. The audience (all ages) loved it and applauded at the end. Films like this are what makes the movie-going experience great. Watch for it to be the summer sleeper once it opens in more theaters.

i thought it was okay. good, not great. i had the same issues with this as the other coming-of-age story recently, "Kings of Summer." Tries way too hard to force the humor, especially using improv-trained actors in the cast. but even when it was not being obviously "jokey" i still didn't feel like it was saying something new about adolescence or broken families etc.
