Lacy read a script of mine off a cold email query, passed, pretty quick. I think she does generally respond.
So you're saying a week is too long for an answer?

What exactly does that mean? It took four hours to get a response? And they loved it but passed on it because it was too small?

Not to be all in your business or anything, but was it a small cast? Not enough "bang" with special effects?

The reason I ask is because I guess I'm trying to see if my screenplay is going to be a pass as well.

One would have nothing to do with the other. Best of luck with it.

No - give her time. I'm saying - don't fixate on one submission. Keep querying other places. Statistically, the longer it takes any company tyo respond the likelier it is to be a pass. But statistics don't mean anything. You come up tails 50 times in a row you still have even odds on #51.

Oh, I've queried hundreds of people from managers, to production companies, to agents. The screenplay is out at 6 places right now that I'm waiting to hear back from all from last week. So, we'll see what happens. I just placed a post here because someone else had experience with Escape Artists II.

Thumbs up Re: Escape Artists/The Steve Tisch Company

Less than a week on the response, yes/no nature. Lacy's courteous.

I get the impression that they read a LOT over there, so I think they're speed readers, or they're 5-and-diming. Which is not exceptional; only paid analysts are sure to read the whole thing (because you'll know if they don't.)

Part of me suspects that if a submission door is THAT wide open, then no one there is really looking for anything. But you can expect that attitude from a conditioned outer-circle aspirant, who's grown accustomed to the gatekeeper f--koff, and a submittor whose script didn't get optioned. A lot harder on the ego to assume that my script wasn't good enough.

Lacy seems straightforward. She likes it, she'll tell you and ask questions. She doesn't, no thanks. Above board. Works for me.
