Default Too Many Years Btwn Sequels

DUMB & DUMBER TO is getting hammered by critics. Been 20 years the original.

Has ANY sequel released five or more years after the first movie been decent?

Off the top of my head...

Terminator (1984) .... T2 (1991)

I do not consider the sequel to be all that good, But Wall Street and Wall Street 2 are a long distance apart.

Cusping it, but you're right. Both 7 years.

I knew DUMB & DUMBER wasn't going to do well.

Seems like a desperate attempt to revive careers.

My personal favorite: THE COLOR OF MONEY, released 25 years after THE HUSTLER.

For Dumb and Dumber I submit it was probably too few years between sequels that is the real problem.

Not going to do well? Or be reviewed well?

It's doing just fine at the box office so far. On track for a 35 million dollar weekend:

There is a hell of a difference between the high brow aspirations of the movie reviewers and whats actually funny in low brow humour. It's a little like tossing a graphic novel to Oprah's book club crowd. There are, as they say, horses for courses.

It's like the recent Lets be cops, currently running at about 18-19% fresh at RT. Why? Easy, because most reviewers are boring old farts closer to their three score and ten than their teens and its a movie aimed at the 14-30 crowd. If RT separated the print media from the digital media reviews for this type of movie we might actually get a clear view of a movies true potential.

Most movie reviewers = a bunch of bitter old queens who woulda if they coulda... but couldn't and didn't
