In my experience, "no" often means something different in this business than it does in real life. It's best looked at as an abbreviation: not now, not yet, not for me...

Certainly, there's the potential that the writing, or the concept, isn't up to par, especially if you're still getting feedback that backs that up, but to assume it based solely on hearing the word "no"... the path to madness lies that way.

No matter how talented you are, you'll hear the word "no" much more than any other. Accept it, make friends with it, and you'll sleep a lot sounder for it.

So true.

I also like "each no that you get is one step closer to a yes."

I have no problem with Brad's comments. Maybe it is the writing and maybe it is not. The point people are missing is he didn't ask for a rewrite or any changes. He's taking a second look at the same exact script.

Yeah. A closed door can mean a permanently closed door, especially to an unknown/unrepped writer. I'm repped, and I still have hard times pitching to Happy Madison because Heather Parry remembers an email exchange I sent back in 2008 about passed material.

Sounds to me like he was saying he liked the script but didn't know how to pitch it.
