Re: Throwdown: Hamboogul vs. Jeff Lowell

A very minor update. An old friend of mine agreed to engage in a writing throwdown "when I have some time off from the assignments." And he is arguably the hottest young writer in this business.

And not that it matters but he got the most number of votes in the Blacklist last year. So yeah, that's the teaser trailer for a battle in July. Haha.

It's actually a math problem. You have to look at the entire list.

I don't know too many female writers. The one I did ask and lined up had scheduling conflict for this week. Next week is me vs. Han Shot First.

Edit to add: If others can line up interesting match-ups, by all means. It's a lot of fun. So if you guys want to just post DDer vs. DDer, this is an open forum meant to engage in a healthy discussion.

we should do a "Pros vs. Joes" challenge, with a simple idea or logline, and see what version people dig better... keeping everyone anonymous... assuming the pros have any time for this?

                          Mud wrestling, then?

No. Writing. If it were mud wrestling, I'd be asking for you and Superscribe.

Okay, Pipe, I'll tell you what...

I've been trying to challenge Hamboogul, but he keeps ducking me with all sorts of excuses and such, so if that doesn't come off, I'll get in the ring with you.

Here's the premise, based very loosely on a story in James Boswell's biography of Samuel Johnson:

After having a heated, theoretical argument about how one wins a mud wrestling match, two intellectuals decide to eschew decorum and attend one. But things get tricky when they bet on the match and find themselves compelled to help their respective wrestlers win.

                              Genre: Musical.

I haven't ducked any challenges. I have a queue of people and I only want to do about one a week.

Also, if you want to issue a challenge to Pipe or to anyone else, you probably want to choose a topic that doesn't require much research. Not saying that you shouldn't do the topic that you suggested but the audience probably would not be able to compare Sample A to Sample B.
