Not really although I appreciate the new revisiting of the franchise a lot more than the hackneyed 20-30 that went before.

I don't believe for a minute that we've seen the end of the franchise either. Current difficulties not withstanding it is to iconic (ie easy to market) to whither and die. It could probably be in the accountants death grip for a decade and still make a successful return... maybe with Zac Efron or the Harry potter kid in 2020?

I literally fell asleep watching The Quantum of Solace.

I never knew it was up in smoke. What happened? is this based on some recent news? I loved the new Daniel Craig direction.

I would be very sad if Bond ended on such a sour note as Quantum of Solace.

But as they say, Bond will be back!

He makes too much money to ignore.

as long as MGM is in chaos so will all the future Bond movies since they own the rights. it's all over the net:

I guess it's hardly a surprise that James Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have suspended development indefinitely on their next Bond film, known as "Bond 23," since MGM, the franchise's home studio, is in total turmoil, having so far been able to find a buyer for its library and other assets. The studio has become something of a laughingstock in Hollywood, releasing tacky B-grade movies and enduring a never-ending round of executive hirings and firings.

You and me both. A brass band from New Orleans couldn't wake my ass up from that.

I'm pretty sure Broccoli and Wilson control the rights to Bond, not MGM. Even so, MGM is the distributor so it really doesn't make sense for them to ramp up development while the studio is in such financial trouble....

I also loved the direction they went...I just disliked the films. Casino Royale had some good individual moments, but overall felt like a convoluted, incongruent mess with one of the worst third acts in film history. QOS (aka POS) was like that third act in CR, but dragged out to feature length.

                      My take too.

Cheech and Chong are the new Bonds?

                        Double O doobies?
