No one's going to get rich writing for Nasser but it does pay some bills. As far as Dan goes he's a joy to work with. He backs his writers up and has gone to bat for us on a number of occasions if we felt strongly about an issue with the script.

Writing for Nasser isn't a career but it is a pretty good introduction (with limited commitment and a paycheck at the end) to the realities of writing for a production company. That being said, it's certainly not for everyone.

UpandComing,

The topic of writing spec scripts for free was covered in-depth at http://messageboard.donedealpro.com/...ad.php?t=70288.

You might want to take a look...

I also recently received a request from him and this was almost actually what he wrote. Has anyone here ever worked with Nassar Entertainment? Any experiences?

Look three posts above your question.

This is good to know. I could use a gig like this right now.

I recently met with Dan. He's looking for Canadian writers with action thrillers to shoot in Canada. Writers must be Canadian in order for Nasser to qualify for film incentives.

He's on InkTip's Preferred Newsletter more than any other producer. Since I'm not Canadian, though, I don't qualify for many of his "requests."

Its a good thing that Nasser seems to fast track its projects, support its writers and all that, but that said, I find it highly unlikely that he's so passionate to get films going full steam ahead in most cases.

I say that taking in account the huge amount of scripts he constantly options, as listed by Inktip's newsletter.

I just don't buy that he gives focused attention and championing to each and every single project that he options.

That said, I hope I'm wrong. But I don't think so.

You're not wrong. Nasser's deals give all the risk to the writer, none to Nasser. When you're getting writers to work for free (unless the movie gets made, which is rare), you're not exactly supporting writers
