    Yeah, right.
I mean, I can just read The Hero with a Thousand Faces, you know. Same thing. And I can pick several movies which used it with the same "tightness" (God that word feel so dirty in my mind).
I've always thought that Star was way overrated.
If for you, analyzing is only 'bout the structure itself, good. Scructure is easy to pick up, as it's always the same/with few variations.

      No one's mentioned Brazil yet?!!

I have to cheat a little, and say my favorite sci-fi movie ever was that seven hour unproduced Alejandro Jodorwosky adaptation of "Dune" that was to star Salvador Dali and be scored by Pink Floyd.

        Re: Top Ten Sci Fi?

That's my favorite movie of all-time, but I certainly wouldn't consider it "sci-fi". I'd called it satire, black comedy, but not sci-fi.

I can't believe I forgot Dune. I would have to place that side by side with Blade Runner as my two all time favorite sci-fi films.

When I was a kid, though, nothing brought me more happiness than Logan's Run.

You kids these days and your fancy 3D and CGI. Pfft.

Agreed. Children of Men might be one of the top 10 films of the decade (2000-2010 smartasses) Cuaron I think would do an incredible job with a new Star Wars ( if Lucas would let anyone do it) He should've been nominated for best Director for that movie. It's the most beautiful, sad movie I've seen in a long time.

I actually agree with Biohazard on this one.

Star Wars is perfectly structured. Sometimes I use it in class to teach plot structure because it's one of few movies with an easily traceable progression from exposition to rising action to climax to falling action to resolution.

Here are actual script pages from Kubric's final version of 2001:

                          First, the sequence:

                          http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXN9r6tPgHU

                          And it reads like this:

                          EXT. SPACE - NIGHT

                          Like . . . whoah, dude . . . check it out . . .
