My fellow DDPers who have helped me along the way, I'm excited to share that the movie rights have been optioned for "Back by Sunrise" - Many more hurdles to getting the film made, but I'm excited!

If you're interested in the novel version:

Absolutely fantastic news. Congratulations! And, believe me, I know how hard it is to sell an animated script...

Thank you! It's been a fun month. I also published a couple books and found out a publisher is interested in my literary novel, so fingers crossed in every direction!

                        Re: Optioned my Animated Spec

Yesterday on this board (as on most days) a new writer asked the usual new writer question -- How do I get my name out there. I and a lot of other people answered the same way we all do. Keep writing, find peer groups, etc. All good advice, but then I started thinking about Justin (Stainjm.)

He didn't just ask questions -- he attacked the problem.

I've known Justin for about a year. When I first met him he was taking a course on screenwriting. Over the last twelve months or so he's pounded the pavement getting interviews from established writers for his blog. He's written a book on his experiences trying to break in and on his successes. He maintains his blog. He's left a good job and taken a job writing for a gaming company (hopefully that's a good job as well.) He's published a novel and a couple of short stories. He's promoted the hell out of all of his work so it stays high on the Amazon sales chart. He's used his connections to option one of his screenplays. He's maintained relationships with both professionals and talented amateurs by offering reads, notes, discussions and for all I know car washing services (P.S. mine's really dirty.)

He's done all this while welcoming a new baby into his household, working full time and attending film festivals, etc.

So he's the answer for most folks -- he worked his ass off almost 24/7.

Thank you, and especially thank you, Centurio! I'm blushing

(and yes, so far the new job is also a good one - I'm still loving it)
