Default do i assume the publicist speaks for the director?

couldn't decide which category but this sounds like the most correct one ... met a director last fall. long story short, he said he would be glad to read the first ten pages of my script and offer feedback. was about to give me his email address when his publicist jumped in and said to send it to him and he'll forward it on. stupid me (in hindsight), i said ok.

sent my ten pages, no response from the publicist, tried again, nadda, tried calling, no response.

do i assume publicists always will forward on and it's the director that's blowing me off? or that the publicist is trying to shield his client from this type of stuff and never forwarded on in which case i should figure out a way to reach the director directly? at what point do you become a pest?

0i said ok.

As Neil Simon oft said: When you "assume" you make an ASS of U and ME.
