Default Worth going after the "lesser" producers or directors?

On film credits, you always see a list of producers, co-producers as well as first assistant director, second director, etc.

Knowing that approaching the main producer (the person(s) listed first) or director with a spec script is impossible, is it worth approaching the others listed? Assuming we can find out how to access them also

That's generally how the script gets to the main producer...

Yes and no, it depends on what kind of producer they are. Some co-producers listed in credits (as well as 1ADs and 2ADs) are physical production guys who usually have nothing to do with (or any interest in) reading scripts or getting them into the hands of the types of producers who can help you. Then again, never say never - movies happen in the weirdest of ways. Good luck!

On the other hand, 1st and 2nd ADs and associate producers often direct or produce their own independent projects. If they were working on a movie you liked, maybe they share that sensibility - maybe they don't, but it's worth a try.
