Default Are standard release forms still required with submissions?

I've been asked by a prodco to submit my script (based on its standing in the Nicholl's competition), but they did not ask for a standard release form along with it.

Should I include a release anyway?
Or is that the sure sign of an amateur? (Which I am, of course...)

If they don't send you a submission release form, don't include one when you submit your script. The release form is to protect them, not you.

I had to sign one when one of my projects went to CAA, but I've also had some requested that didn't require one.
Agreed. Only if they send you one to sign.

Thanks. That's what I figured, though I once had a script (hard copy) returned unread when I didn't include one.

If they require one, they will send their own... read it, sign it, send it back.

Not everyone does, but Energy, Kaplan/Perrone and Circle of Confusion do-- for example.

I would never send my own. Let them lead the way.

If you get one, read it carefully. Some have onerous language that can make you uncomfortable. I've refused to sign a couple because of this.
