I would say that mine is Good Will Hunting.

Hiroshima Mon Amour. Just a rediculously good movie for so many reasons. I love when a movie works as an allegory.

Theodora Goes Wild -- most underrated romantic comedy of the classic era. Brilliantly skewers small-town prudery, and Thomas Mitchell's funniest performance.

I've never seen any of them. I'll have to check them out.

I have many favorites- Apocalypse Now, Amadeus, Romancing The Stone, Wonderboys. But my absolute favorite is Big Trouble In Little China. I still remember that rainy day in Florida, sneaking Tico-Taco into the theater with my mom when I was 11. And then watching John Carpenter's magic unfold. That was a great day.

ETA: Actually I have to take that back. Big Trouble In Little China comes in 2nd.

My absolute favorite is a film by a talented young director named Kieran Roberts, who also happens to be my favorite little boy. Here is his directorial debut - The Rescue of Mixeltown:

              Amadeus. Not even close.

Apocalypse Now second, and On The Waterfront 3rd, if you want to to know which ones just missed.

Another Apocalypse here. I sense a trend.

Andrei Tarkovsky's Stalker. There's just nothing else even like it.

That's an impossible question. It's like asking your favourite colour, or food or drink, or song, or animal, or person.

How the hell am I supposed to choose between:
                      Seven Samurai (1954)
                      The Seventh Seal (1957)
                      2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
                      Apocalypse Now (1979)
                      The Thing (1982)
                      Naked (1993)
Know this: I'm a lazy amateur, so trust not a word what I write.

                          And it's not even close.

Today it's LA Confidential. It's a jigsaw puzzle of a film where all the pieces fit. Next week it could be Big Trouble in Little China, which holds a very special place in my heart. Or The Searchers, which for family and personal reasons is huge in my choice of careers.
