  • Did IMDBpro kill searching for lit managers/agents?

I can only find broad agent/management links now, nothing for literary specific. Am I just blind?

Just took a look at querytracker. Looks like it's only for book agents.

Did IMDBpro ever have a lit manager or lit agent specific listing?

Look up writers whose careers you aspire to. See who their reps are. Seek out those reps.

The OP said literary-specific, which I assumed meant books.

In Hollywood parlance, "literary reps" refers to people who represent screenwriters.

                  To search go to:

Industry Directory --> People Directory. In the Profession drop down, choose the 4th Talent Agent (it will be cut off but the 4th one is Literary).

                      Also directors.

                      Writers & directors: "literary"

                      Actors: "talent"

I have a theory that Hollywood re-appropriates common words for their own meanings in order to spot outsiders as fast as possible.

                      "Shibboleth"

EDIT— fixed link. Here's the one I accidentally posted. Worth watching anyway, just because it is.

In my experience, "literary" only refers to writers. The designation is fluid, though -- talent reps can rep writers, and literary reps can rep non-writers -- but "literary" is only used to refer to things dealing with writers.

What experience is that? I worked for Paul Kohner and Endeavor. Nothing you wrote jives with these agencies or the Hollywood usage I've heard. Did the vocabulary change when I wasn't looking?

You're right. Lit managers/agents represent writers and directors. And sometimes producers.

O.T.: Keith Calder! I cut and wrote copy for a trailer for your POM movie when it ran on HBO Poland. It was fun. :-)

(It started with a black screen, "offline" high-pitching sound and VO: "Right now, you're not watching any commercials." After a second: "Enough." and we ran with the trailer)
