Re: Any Great Westerns To Recommend?

The only two I gave '10's on IMDb were The Good, Bad & Ugly and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Slightly out of the genre, but close enough are Treasure of the Sierra Madre with Huston & Bogart, A Man Called Horse and Blazing Saddles.

A few other good ones include Bad Day at Black Rock, Shane and both versions of 3:10 to Yuma. Also, I Will Fight No More Forever

      STAGECOACH (good starting point)

      THE WILD BUNCH

THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY
      FISTFUL OF DOLLARS
      FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE
THE GREAT SILENCE (the darkest of Italian Westerns and one of the best)
      DJANGO
      WINCHESTER '73

      HIGH NOON (perfectly structured film)

JOHNNY GUITAR (interesting subtext to watch for in this one!)

Great Budd Boetticher box set out there:
      RIDE LONESOME
      THE TALL T
      DECISION AT SUNDOWN
      BUCHANAN RIDES AGAIN
      COMANCHE STATION

      THE SEARCHERS

      SHANE

RED RIVER (Caine Mutiny as a western; great acting)

CAT BALLOU (western comedy that's entertaining)

BUTCH & SUNDANCE (Goldman's script is worth a read or two)
"I talked to a couple of yes men at Metro. To me they said no."
