![]() Looking for places to send a sports comedy script in the vein of DODGEBALL, SEMI-PRO, BLADES OF GLORY, etc.
It's probably a hard sell without Will Ferrell invovled, but what are you going to do? |

![]() Not write it.
Obviously just kidding, if it's good enough Will will probably sign on! Speaking of Will Ferrell, here's his prodco's info... Gary Sanchez Prod. Phone: 323-465-4600 Fax: 323-465-0782 |

![]() Will Ferrell doesn't need to be in it. At least he couldn't be the main part because we need someone nerdy like Kenneth from 30 Rock. Or maybe Jonah Hill could pull it off.
But he could play the coach character. It isn't a sport they have already done. We thought of that when we started writing it 1 year or so ago.. So is gary a real guy or just a joke? Hard to tell with these cool guys. I assume It's Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's production company. I guess it would be good to start there, not that I'm sure they take queries, but I guess it couldn't hurt to try. |

![]() Hey Bono - you should just hit up all the prodcos who you know've bought/setup sports comedies/dramas. Start with these:
Walden Media Cube Vision Happy Madison Productions Mayhem Pictures Baldwin Entertainment (tho they mostly do sports dramas) Broken Road Productions Morgan Creek Productions Red Hour Films Red Wagon Productions |

![]() I just tried some of those via e-mail even though I'm sure they won't get it or if they do, read it.
I got a form letter from Gary Sanchez saying how they can't read any work unless submitted through an agent, etc.... |

![]() Broad sports comedies are a very tough sell right now. They generally don't travel well. And, FWIW, Will Ferrel claims he's not doing them anymore.
Several of the companies listed are trying to get away from sports comedies. Mayhem doesn't do broad comedy sports movies and would prefer to get out of the spoirts comedy business (one of the reasons is because Disney doesn't want to make more of them -- after Mayhem's "Secretariat"). Walden is mainly looking for rated PG movies, so be aware of that. I don't recall Broken Road making a broad sports comedy. |
