Default Amy Adams As Janis Joplin?

Reports are spreading that this is a good possibility.

Never been a big fan of Janis (though her Dick Cavett appearances on YouTube are quite interesting), but I don't see Amy in her shoes. Renee Z and the singer P!nk were involved in seperate projects years back that fell through. They seemed more of a fit. Even Swank or Lili Taylor.

Big fan of Amy's. But does she even sing or is she going to lip sync her way through the movie?

I just don't see her in the part. She is going to have to gain a lot of weight, lower her voice into a raspy twang... If she pulls this off she'll deserve that Oscar.

this years' american idol runner up was often compared to jj in style. she could follow in j hudson's footsteps.
she doesn't look the part but juliette lewis is a rocker and could definitely play the part.

Julliette Lewis would be a good choice. Hell, with all the sh1t Drew Barrymore had been in she'd be more believable than Amy.

She'll have to work on her "stoned out of her gourd" grin too

I'm not going to flip out over it, but I don't get it either. Seems like there's a ton of other choices that could have worked better, but for all we know she could have auditioned and freaking nailed it. So...I guess we'll see!

She's done her own singing in at least two movies now, ENCHANTED and MOONLIGHT SERENADE.

There's certainly no resemblance between their faces, though. That's what throws me off.

Lili Taylor was a great idea...

Problem is that Adams just projects *cute* and *nice* - and those are things don't fit Joplin. Now, maybe Adams can do a DeNiro and change herself so that she is a completely different person who is not cute, but I haven't seen that so far.

Has Hollywood lost their ability to match actor with role? I don't see Ruffalo as Bruce Banner - he's too laid back. You need someone who is emotional and those emotions are always threatening to go out of control or the story doesn't work.

Joplin needs to be someone damaged - and that's not what Adams projects.

Wait for Lindsay (ya, I said it... I brought her up) to get out of jail. She fits the damaged singer more closely. She can sing and when she focus' she can act. Get a great SFX person to change her. It could work... okay lets not all come after me now...
