Default Production Companies in the UK

Does anyone have good suggestions for production companies in the United Kingdom open to query letters?

Also pick up the 2010 issue of The Writers' and Artists' Yearbook. This has always (and I assume still does) listed all film and TV production companies based in the UK and the USA, as well as agents handling both books and screenplays.

Yes, those all are agencies, in fact. And many strictly literary (i.e. they don't handle screenplays, though many, if not most, in London handle stageplays).

Check UK film council, they have a site called Film File Europe. I have lost the link but call them for a list of people involved in coproduction which is a whole bunch of info, emails, cross reference with IMDB pro and the BFI films in production section and other sites and just query away. I attached a UK producer for one project using this method. You need to do a lot more googling and cross referencing since there is no master list like the HCD.

Or you can request/buy the PACT (Producers Alliance for Cinema and TV) Production Directory. All the prodcos are listed there. It should come up if you Google it.

Off the top of my head only these agencies in the UK handle scripts:

www.theagency.co.uk

www.casarotto.co.uk

www.curtisbrown.co.uk

www.darleyanderson.com

www.dencharnold.co.uk

www.marjacq.com

www.sheilland.co.uk

www.independenttalent.com

www.blakefriedmann.co.uk

www.pfd.co.uk

www.apwatt.co.uk

www.theagency.co.uk

www.futermanrose.co.uk

Yes, it's still very good, and "thicker" than ever, it seems to grow year in and year out, probably articles and new sections -- there are two similar volumes, Writer's Market (blue cover) and a competitor, (yellow cover) but each of these will probably show up in an Amazon search under the "customers who bought -- section.
Writer & Artist's Yrbook is quite literary in flavour/content, so Spacefarer's reco. sounds like a very useful alter.
Raindance is a useful website -- if you are in the UK, a good source, for both courses/contacts.

I used the W&A Yearbook when I was breaking into film/TV in London, and back then--some time ago, of course--it at least got me to knock on the doors of the top agencies and eventually signing with one.
