Default rudin heading to the house of mouse

The Walt Disney Co.'s film studio is expected to sign producer Scott Rudin, whose hits range from "School of Rock" to Oscar contender "The Hours," to a movie deal that would lure him from Paramount Pictures, spokeswomen for both studios said on Tuesday.

The five-year agreement, if finalized, would give Disney a first chance to fund and distribute movies from Rudin for Disney's Touchstone Pictures, Walt Disney Pictures and Miramax Films movie labels.

The deal would bring a high-profile producer to Disney just weeks after it and former Miramax co-Chief Executives Harvey Weinstein and his brother Bob Weinstein decided to part ways.

An agreement also would come at a time when Disney and Pixar Animation Studios Inc, which produced computer animated hits "The Incredibles" and "Finding Nemo," are nearing the end of their film production and distribution pact.
